Guppy Care Guide

These are selectively bred for vibrant colours, unique patterns, and strong genetics. To ensure they stay healthy and thrive in your aquarium, proper care and tank conditions are essential.

Tank Requirements

  • Minimum tank size – 35 litres (Bigger is better though!)
  • Fully cycled tank required before purchase! – Ammonia and nitrite spikes can be fatal to fish. If you’re unsure about cycling your tank, contact us for guidance before purchasing.
  • pH Level: 7.0 – 8.0 (ideal: ~8.0)
  • Temperature: 24°C – 26°C
  • Water Flow: Gentle flow preferred
  • Water Changes: 20% weekly or twice a week for optimal health
  • Tank Mates: Avoid fin-nippers – their long tails can be an easy target for aggressive fish
Diet & Feeding

High-protein food is essential for maintaining their vibrant colours and strong finnage. A varied diet of quality flakes, pellets, live or frozen foods (such as brine shrimp or daphnia) will help keep them in peak condition.

Acclimating Your Guppies

  1. When introducing high-grade guppies to a new tank, proper acclimation is crucial to reduce stress:
  2. Float the sealed bag in the tank for 15 minutes to match the temperature.
  3. Slowly add small amounts of tank water into the bag over another 15 minutes.
  4. Gently release the fish into the tank without adding bag water to the tank.
Important Notes

  • Do not purchase unless your tank is cycled! Adding fish to an uncycled tank will cause dangerous ammonia spikes, which can be fatal.
  • If your guppies show signs of illness, contact us immediately. We work closely with the breeder to ensure only healthy, high-quality fish are sold.
